An impeachment motion against President Uhuru Kenyatta is ready for tabling as soon as Parliament resumes from recess, Nyamira Senator Kennedy Mongare maintains.
Mong’are says that Uhuru is unfit to lead the country as he has perpetually breached the constitution in utter disregard of the law.
Speaking on Sunday at his KICC office, the Nyamira Senator said that Uhuru has more than 16 instances of breach of the constitution which forms the ground of his removal.
“We are aware that over three weeks ago, the President of Kenya tried to overthrow the constitution by virtue of denying the National Assembly its rightful and constitutional role to do its mandate,” he said.
He accused Uhuru of using police to manipulate MPs during the debate on Amendments of electoral laws.
Mong'are added that he looked further and cited Article 6(3) of the constitution to have been breached by the President.
It states that any State organ shall ensure reasonable access to services for its people and with the health sector in paralysis, the President should be removed from office on grounds of failing to address such an issue.
Ten MPs have shown interest in support the motion which will be tabled first in the National Assembly before tabling it in the Senate.
For an impeachment motion to be moved, a third of National Assembly Members must support it.
