Normal operations in Mombasa and the larger Coast region have been paralyzed following the ongoing heavy downpour.
Roads in Mombasa CBD and in residential areas were flooded the entire Wednesday, September 26, after the County experienced non-stop rains since 9 am.
Commuters were stranded due to lack of vehicles as motorists risked their lives driving in flooding waters and poor visibility.
Kilifi, Kwale, Taita Taveta and Tana River also experienced a heavy downpour with chilly and cloudy weather.
On Thursday morning, the rains were still continuing in Mombasa hampering normal operations especially transport services.
On Sunday, September 23, the Kenya Meteorological Department warned of continuous heavy rainfall at the Kenyan Coast measuring between 50mm and 75mm.
Residents living in slum areas and areas prone to mudslides are now fearing for their lives over possible diseases outbreak and landslides.
Mombasa sub county administration has since issued emergency contacts to residents and advised them to be very cautious.
Kenya Red Cross Coast Regional Coordinator Hassan Musa confirmed that there has been no casualty report so far.
