A majority of Nakuru Members of County Assembly are campaigning vigorously for their Speaker, Susan Kihika, in the race for Nakuru senator.
The race is seen as a two horse race between city lawyer and businessman Karanja Kabage and the Nakuru County Assembly Speaker Susan Kihika.
Pundits have also not ruled out other aspirants especially Madaraka Mwithaga and veteran politician Koigi wa Wamwere.
Initially, the race’s front runner were Kihika and Mwithaga but the entry of Kabage changed the matrix.
Things are also expected to change as the clocks ticks closure to 2017 and aspirants enhance their campaigns.
According to sources within the Nakuru County Assembly, close to 40 MCAs have agreed to campaign for Kihika.
Turi Ward MCA Michael Wang’ombe has already come out publicly against Kabage.
“Huyu jamaa ana madharau sana. In 2007 at Merica he told us, 7 councilor aspirants that he was to step down coz MOLO people are like pigs, they love poverty and he wanted to remove them from it but just like pigs, they don't want to elect him and move out of poverty, (sic)” Wang’ombe wrote on a Molo constituency facebook group, Elburgon na Maendeleo.
Kabage is however banking on veteran Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri among other leaders and networks to ensure he emerges a victor in the race which is promising to be a bruising one.
