A Kisii-based human rights activist now wants the police to beef up his security following a petition he presented to the Senate over the alleged skewed employment and mismanagement of resources in the county government of Nyamira.
Reuben Kibewa alias Mageuzi presented a three-paged document questioning the manner in which recruitment is done in Nyamira County and also cited recruitment of under-qualified staff.
In a phone call to this reporter on Thursday, Kibegwa revealed getting ‘strange’ phone calls with callers demanding that he withdraws the case or ‘faces dire consequences’.
“I have been receiving anonymous calls over the last two days and I fear that my life could be targeted. This is just because I want sanity to prevail in our county government. I am asking the police to beef up my security,” he said.
“The callers have been cautioning me to withdraw the petition from the Senate and have even warned of dire consequences should I not heed to their requests,” he added.
Kibegwa said he since reported the matter to the Central Police Station in Nairobi and vowed to unearth alleged evils at the county government of Nyamira.
