Nyamira Senetor asks Parliament to reject petitions against Maraga

Nyamira Senator Kennedy Okongo says he is confident that the two petitions challenging the nomination of David Maraga as the Chief Justice will be rejected.

Speaking on Saturday at Nyamira Catholic Church during the ordination ceremony of Father Benjamin Avoga, Mong'are said Justice Maraga has a rich Christian background and has a good record to head the Judiciary.

"I am hopeful that the National Assembly will clear the judge to rise to the most powerful office in the Judiciary," he added.

The petitions fronted by a section of Ainamoi constituents is in relation to a ruling the judge made in regards to the killing of the then Ainamoi MP David Kimutai Too on January 31, 2008.

Justice Maraga hails from Nyamira and residents are looking up to his appointment to head the Judiciary.
