The county government of Nyamira has allocated Sh25 million for the proposed Kemasare water project expected to benefit over 20,000 residents.
Speaking during the launch, Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama said his administration has put priorities to improve roads as well access to safe water.
"Long have gone days when our mothers and sisters used to travel long distances in search of water," added Nyagarama.
On his part, County Minister in charge of Environment, Water and Natural Resources Reuben Sinange said the project will involve water treatment and distribution to over 20, 000 families and will be completed in January 2017.
The project in Kemasare village once completed, will serve residents of Nyamaiya, Bonyunyu, Rangenyo, Ratandi and its environs.
