Miss Kenya finishes 4th in Miss World 2016 finals

Kenya's Evelyn Thungu finished fourth in the 66th edition of miss world 2016 held Sunday 18, in the United States.

Stephanie Del Valle of Puerto Rico was crowned Miss World 2016, edging out runners-up from the Dominican Republic and Indonesia winning the top prize.

Ghana's Antoinetter Delali Kemavor was 15th overall, making them the only African contestants in the top 20 of the Miss World 2016.

Del Valle, 19, is a brown-eyed brunette student who speaks Spanish, English and French, and hopes to get into the entertainment industry.

Crowned by Miss World 2015 Mireia Lalaguna of Spain, del Valle called it an "honor and a great responsibility" to represent her Caribbean homeland.

Evelyn Thungu impressed many with her answer to a question from Miss World 1988 Linda Petursdottir of Iceland: What can you do to improve education in the world?

Answer: What we can do to improve education in the world… Obviously, it begins with empowering every child to understand that education is important, and Nelson Mandela said that it is the weapon that a child can use to face the future. So first let's educate our parents that education is important and then we shall have all children on board to achieve their dreams.

Meanwhile, in the Continental Queens of Beauty, Kenya's Thungu took the African group.
