Kiambu produces one of the world's most beautiful top five women
Miss World Kenya, Kiambu County 2016, has been named among the top five in the world’s most glamorous and prestigious beauty pageant.

Evelyne Njambi Thungu, has also made history by becoming the first Kenyan to hold the Miss World Africa title.

Njambi emerged among the winners during 66th edition of Miss World 2016 beauty pageant held in Maryland, USA, on Sunday night.

The top prize went to Stephanie Del Valle from Puerto Rico who defeated more than 130 contestants to emerge the winner.

She was declared Miss Kenya after the controversy-ridden dethroning of Roshanara Ebrahim in July. Roshanara was dethroned six months into her crowning following allegations of ‘Breach of Code of Conduct’ by the pageant’s franchise.

Overcome with emotion, the 22-year-old interior design Maseno University student, said she was thrilled by her win.

“I am humbled and greatly honoured to have been the one representing not only my beautiful country Kenya, but Africa too to finish in the top five! I attribute my success to God’s unfailing love and grace!” she said.

During her reign as Miss World Kenya Kiambu, she engaged in various activities for her county, including supporting children to access quality education. She has worked with the Red Cross Chapter in Kiambu to donate textbooks and uniforms to children, as well as sanitary towels to girls.

Njambi was accompanied to beauty pageant by Kiambu County first lady Philomena Kabogo and a team from the Department of Education, ICT, Culture and Social Services.
