A former British army man, 72, was on Sunday found dead at his alleged lover's house in Rangwe, Homabay.
Police said the ex-army's naked body was found atop the woman's bed.
Neighbours said the man had inherited the woman, a widow.
Police sources said the deceased, identified as James Wilfred, was found in Christine Achieng's wooden bed with several tablets of unknown medicine beside him.
“The deceased relieved himself in his toilet and sitting room before he died,” said Homa Bay county police commander John Omusanga.
Police could not establish whether the tablets were sex boosters.
“We’ve taken samples for examination to ascertain the cause of death. We also want to find out if he died as a result of an overdose,” he said.
The deceased's passport, which was found in the house, showed he once served as a military officer in the British Army and police have already contacted Foreign Affairs ministry over the incident.
His lover was also rushed to hospital where she is recovering.
