PTwo security officers are fighting their lives at Thika Level 5 hospital after they were attacked and seriously injured by over 10 armed thugs at night. The thugs, however, did not steal anything from the office of the Hospital ward MCA Danson Mburu but perused documents and left them scattered on the floor.

They latter buddle the two watchmen into the nearest Heaven's Gate church where they slashed them with machetes before taking off. When we visited the scene, blood was spread all over the church altar.  The MCA, accompanied by 3 other MCAs from Thika, Kiambu County, condemned the incident and alluded that the incident was political.

The MCAs included Stephen Chege (Kamenu ward), Andrew Ndirangu (Township ward) and John Njiru (nominated).  “The thugs must have been paid goons by my political competitors and the reason why they did not steal anything from my office was a clear indicator that they were looking for some land documents,” said Mburu.

“In the last one month we have been accused of grabbing land in Thika town an accusation that is false,” he added.

The MCAs later visited the injured guards in the hospital and were concerned that the level 5 hospital lacked head scanning machines. They said they would push for procurement of the equipment in the county government and also asked the National government to chip in.

Dr. Jacklin Wangechi confirmed that one of the injured guards had severe head injuries and were planning to transfer him to Kenyatta National Hospital for city scan.

Thika deputy OCPD Bernard Ayoo denied that there was insecurity in Thika saying the incident was suspect since they did not steal anything and only broke into that particular office amongst others. He, however, said police had launched investigations to get to the bottom of the matter.
