The suspects were arrested on Sunday in Kibwezi town, Makueni county. [Photo/star.co.ke]4 men were on Monday charged at Makindu law courts with illegal possession of ivory worth Sh1.6 million.
According to the Star, the suspects,Tito Munguti, Muema Kamuti, Joshya Mwanzia and Mashuba Ivuti denied being in possession of the 2 elephant tusks.
They were arrested on Sunday in Kibwezi town, Makueni county.
They will be remanded until Thursday as they await a pre-trial.
2 other men were also charged for illegally keeping a wild reptile at home.
Mwakera Mukala and Edwin Mwakera are said to have illegally confined a pangolin at Kishushe village, Makueni county.
Makindu senior resident magistrate Gerald Mutiso ordered their release on Sh200,000 bond each.
The hearing of the case will be on October 9.
