Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has called upon the electorate to back candidates aligned to Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader ahead of the forthcoming general election.
Speaking in Kangundo constituency during meet the people tours in Kamanzi, Kivaani, Kikambuani and Kangundo towns, the governor asked the wananchi to back her party aspirants to realize fruits of devolution after the August polls.
“I also urge you to vote for my party candidates. I need a team that I can work with effectively,” said Mutua, as quoted by Capital FM.
The vocal legislator also cautioned leaders who are not sure of election against inciting Kenyans before the election date, adding that Kenya is bigger than individuals.
“Those who have sensed defeat should keep off the polls instead of inciting their supporters. This country is bigger than all of us thus the need for peaceful campaigns and polls,” said Mutua.
He further asked aspirants to respect the decision of the people and courts when that time comes.
“Our leaders should also learn to respect rulings given by courts. Disregarding courts is fanning anarchy,” he added.
The governor is set to square it out with Former Kathaini MP Wavinya Ndeti, also former Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU) party leader.
