Lieutenant Colonel Timothy Stelu Lekolool has been appointed President Uhuru Kenyatta's new Aide-de-Camp.

Lt. Lekolool, becomes the first Navy officer to be an aide of the president.

He succeeds Lieutenant Col Victor Mburu as President Kenyatta's third aide.

Mburu, who became the president's ADC in August 2017, took over from Lt-Col Peter Njiru, who was last week promoted to Brigadier and appointed as Commandant, Recruit Training school.

An Aide-de-Camp is the president's personal assistant and stays closest to him at all times, including riding in the same car.

DUTIES

ADCs carry out the following duties; escorting the president from State House into a waiting car, opening the door, then standing at attention and saluting when the president sits, receiving gifts and other items on behalf of the president, carrying the president's personal items like mobile phones and sometimes speeches when going to functions.

The ADC also attends to the needs of the president when required.
