A trader in Budalangi pocketed thousands on Friday after Deputy President William Ruto became her customer.

The lady was roasting maize on the roadside when DP Ruto spotted her and decided to go buy ‘mahindi choma’.

He stopped his convoy and headed to the elderly lady where he asked for the roasted maize.Excited, the woman points to the best maize the DP can enjoy.

According to this video which has been posted online, the DP left the woman smiling all the way to the bank after paying handsomely for the maize.

Ruto is seen removing wads of cash, counts up to ten thousand shillings and hands over to the woman.He then asks excited fans who had milled around to feast on all the maize.

Ruto was from a rally at St. Benedicts secondary and was on his way back to board his chopper.

It has, however, emerged that the DP’s trip to the area ended tragically after one of the cars in his convoy knocked to death a 7-year-old boy.

The parents of the boy have narrated on how their child was eager to see ‘the Ruto talked about’ and it is so sad that he was killed on the same day he saw him.

The DP sent condolences to the family.
