Makali was kicked out of the party on Thursday over his links to ODM party leader Raila Odinga and opposition National Super Alliance.

Makali is expected to vie for the Bungoma Senatorial seat during the August general elections.

He vied for the same post during the Bungoma senatorial by-election late 2013 and lost to Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula.

The Labour Party National Executive Council, in the meantime, has appointed organising secretary Peter ole Musei as acting secretary general.

Party treasurer Ignatius Nyukuri said Mr Makali has been pushing for Labour Party to join NASA.

"A majority of NEC members are inclined to Jubilee; it is only Makali who has been pushing the party to work with NASA," he said as quoted by the Star.

Ababu relaunched LPK in 2016 after leaving ODM.

He left the Orange party after accusing a section of ODM leaders of making his work difficult.

He said some ODM senior members did not give him adequate time to work as party secretary general.

When LPK was relaunched, Makali was appointed secretary general as former MP Julia Ojiambo took over the party's chairperson position. Ababu was appointed party leader.

After the revelation of his sacking emerged, Makali posted on a party WhatsApp group saying: "This is the kind of nonsense I do not expect from any party leave along the one I belong to."
