AFC Leopards' first leg CAF Confederation Cup fixture against Fosa Juniors of Madagascar has been shifted to Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

The match was initially scheduled to be played at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega county.

Ingwe were, however, forced to rescind the decision due to lack of funds to facilitate a CAF inspector visit the Western Kenya-based facility.

Confirming the change of venue on Tuesday, AFC chairman Dan Mule revealed that the club had hoped to host their opening match in Kakamega where they command a huge following.

“We received a communication yesterday from CAF, that we need to facilitate for an Inspector to tour the facility in western Kenya before the stadium can be sanctioned. That might not be possible considering the cash crises at the den,” he said.

On Monday, Mule paid Machakos governor Alfred Mutua a courtesy call at his office, where it was agreed that the County hosts Ingwe's home matches.

KPL champions Gor Mahia are also expected to use Kenyatta Stadium as their home ground after governor Mutua lifted a three-year ban imposed on the club in 2014.

“The Governor is aware that we are playing at home same as Gor Mahia on the weekend of February 10/11 and one team will play on Saturday and the other on Sunday," Mule uncovered.
