Prof Margaret Kamar is a well known politician by many Kenyans. She hails from Uasin Gishu, a county full of agricultural activities and diverse cultures.

Apart from being a politician, Kamar is a farmer at her home area. In 2007, she was elected to represent Eldoret East Constituency.She was appointed minister for Higher Education by the former president Mwai Kibaki to serve in the grand coalition government which had Raila Odinga as the Prime Minister.During the 2013 elections, she vied for the Uasin Gishu County governor position in an ODM ticket butn lost URP's (the party nolonger exists) Jackson Mandago.

She has been out of politics since then and now, she is back again to try once more.Kamar is back to contest for county's senatorial seat, under a Jubilee.
