Athletics Kenya has moved its fourth Track and Field weekend meeting that had been scheduled for this Friday.

The two-day event will now be held in Nyahururu, AK public relations officer Evans Bosire announced.

According to Bosire, the heavy downpour in the region rendered the Afraha Stadium waterlogged hence the decision to shift the event to Nyahururu.

“We could not host the event in Nakuru because of rains and the stadium as you understand is muddy.Nyahururu is in good condition,” Bosire added.

Last week AK postponed Nakuru and Kisii meetings to pave way for the elections which were later stopped by the court.

“We apologise for any inconveniences caused because we are aware that the athletes have been training for the competition. However we are happy that it will go on,” said Bosire.

The first leg of the series kicked off in Bondo, Mumias and Thika and the athletes are using the event to prepare for the IAAF World Championships in London.
