Kikuyu Council of Elders in Thika have conducted a ceremony to curse Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino for allegedly insulting President Uhuru Kenyatta and his mother Mama Ngina Kenyatta.

The elders who converged at Mama Ngina gardens in Thika town on Wednesday evening after a peaceful rally around the streets slaughtered a lamb, without a blemish, and burnt its meat to ashes while reprimanding and cursing Babu Owino for being disrespectful to the President and his mother, who is an elder.

During the traditional ceremony, the elders mixed the lamb’s blood with milk and honey and other unnamed items before spilling it around the fire as they performed the traditional ritual.

They said that rising of the smoke from the burnt offering to the skies indicated that God had accepted their sacrifice.

Led by Elder Michael King’e from Nduberi, the elders said that they appeased God with the sacrifice and prayed (while facing Mt Kenya) that he strike the youthful MP for his derogatory remarks that were only geared towards igniting animosity and disrupting peace in the country.

Karatu said that the ceremony was the first of its kind to be held in the country adding that the repercussions will start revealing after seven days, seven months or seven years. He said it is the first ceremony in the country’s history to be conducted against a non-Kikuyu.

“We were angered by the young boy’s insults. Even the Bible is clear that parents must be respected as well as leaders who have been anointed to lead. Likening the former First lady to a dog and the president to a puppy has caused us a lot of pain. God will unleash His wrath upon him,” King’e said.

The council Chairman Njoroge Karatu said that disregarding the head of state in such manner of dragging close family members called for such a ritual.

“We were born by mothers and every mother or woman who listened to what Owino said, likening them to dogs, must be hurt. This sacrifice will make this country tremble once the curse takes effect,” he said.

However, the Elder revealed that Babu owino can be cleaned if he repents before the council and apologizes to the head of state and Mama Ngina Kenyatta.

“Elders can still conduct another cleansing ceremony that will set him free of the curse if he seeks forgiveness,” he said.
