Coastal-based club Bandari FC was handed a major confidence boost ahead of the new season after thrashing Kariobangi Sharks 3-2 in their preseason opener played on Thursday morning.

This was Sharks’ first pre-season tournament encounter.

Bandari FC started the match impressively but were particularly wasteful in front of goal in the early minutes.

They, however, opened the scoring with just five minutes into half-time through John Kingatua, who slotted home from the penalty spot after Mohamed Siraj was brought down in the box.

This was Kingatua's first goal since his return from injury.

Geoffrey Shiveka restored parity for Sharks just after halftime, netting from the penalty spot amid protestation from Bandari players.

Sharks took the lead two minutes later via Ovella Ochieng, but Abdallah Hassan equalized for the Dockers minutes later.

Lugogo sealed a 3-2 victory for Bandari at stoppage time, managing to dribble past two defenders as he slotted home with a fine finish.

This was Bandari's second match in their preseason campaign, after drawing 1-1 against National Super League side Talanta FC on Tuesday at Camp Toyoyo.

Sharks, on the other hand, will be looking to make amends after a poor start in their preseason tournament campaign as they entertain Mathare United later this afternoon at Utalii Grounds.
