The Orange party has dismissed claims that it has already issued direct nomination certificate to a favourite candidate for the Embakasi East Constituency parliamentary race.
ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale dismissed a statement, that was purportedly released by secretary general Dr Agnes Zani, saying a ticket had already been issued.
''Our attention is drawn to a statement purportedly written by the Secretary General of the party Sen. (Dr) Agnes Zani regarding campaigns in Embakasi East Constituency involving two of the aspirants for the party ticket in next Tuesday's nominations exercise,'' Etale said, Friday, morning.
"The party wishes to state that the office of the Secretary General HAS NOT issued any such or other Press releases or statements on the ongoing campaigns for the party ticket in Embakasi East Constituency,''' read part of the statement.
The Raila Odinga-led further urged party members, supporters and the general public not to write up messages and to dismiss the 'fake' ''statement in circulation with the contempt it deserves.''
A total of seven aspirants are eyeing the seat which is being held by John Omondi.
The aspirants include SONU chairman Babu Owino, Francis Masinde Wekesa, Geroge Bhutto Obiga, Boniface Nyagaka Mosoti, Joash Omwenga Kengere, Philip Nyauncho Bosire and Manyasi Lukas Baridi.
However, critics say Babu Owino is likely to clinch the ticket despite close rivalry by Wekesa. The two are the most popular in the region.
