Hundreds of people trooped to the Holy Rosary Cathedral yesterday to pay their last honor to the late Catholic Bishop Cornelius Korir.

Bishop Korir’s funeral service was held yesterday ahead of his burial today at the church where he served for 27 years

Bishop Korir, since his passing on, has been eulogised as a man who fostered peace among communities in the North Rift region and the country at large.

A revelation was also given that the Bishop was planning to follow a channel that he hoped would see the polarised nature of the country’s political system healed.

According to one of the church leaders identified as Misoi, the late Bishop was planning to meet with the two major political players in the country, Uhuru Kenyatta, and Raila Odinga as a way to foster peace among all communities in the country.

A funeral service is underway at the Eldoret sports club and those in attendance include President Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto.

Bishop Korir will be laid to rest this afternoon inside the church in a process that will only be witnessed by fellow bishops
