Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Bishop Margaret Wanjiru has been denied bail after being charged with malicious damage of property and creating  public disorder.

Wanjiru was arraigned for storming the City Park polling station on Wednesday flagged by her supporters who allegedly destroyed voting materials.

She on Thursday denied the charges before chief magistrate Francis Andayi.

Andayi ordered that she be detained for five more days as police carry out investigations.

After the five days, the judge said, Wanjiru will be required to deposit Sh500 000 for bond and provide two sureties before her bail is granted.

In her mitigation, she asked to be detained at a police station so she could access her medication.

She was taken to Kileleshwa police station where she was asked to provide documents to prove she was feeling unwell.
