A former MP has warned President Uhuru Kenyatta that his Jubilee Party will suffer more defections as the August 8, elections draw closer.

Raphael Wanjala (former Budalang'i MP) said the Jubilee Party is foreshadowed to lose more members than the opposition NASA.

He spoke in Port Victoria in Busia County a day after ditching Jubilee party and joined former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's ODM.

He envisions to vie for the Budalang'i MP seat on an ODM ticket.

"I want to tell President Uhuru Kenyatta that it is not Budalang'i alone, the situation is bad and he should be prepared for more defections by politicians allied to the party," he said.

"We are now tired of his poor leadership. Majority of the people have decided. Even the Bible says the voice of the majority is God's voice. Who am I to say no?"

Wanjala was Budalang'i MP between 1997 and 2007 before current MP Ababu Namwamba ousted him.

The two are expected to face off during the August general polls.

Ababu will be defending his seat on a Labour Party of Kenya ticket after falling out with ODM in July 2016.

Some of the key Jubilee members who have already joined ODM include former ambassadors Sam Ongeri who is eyeing the Kisii senatorial seat and Chirau Mwakwere who is expected to contest for the Kwale governor seat.

Jubilee Party has also lost some of its members to Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua's Maendeleo Chap Chap party.
