A British woman was on Friday arraigned before a Mombasa Court to answer to charges of being in possession of ammunition without a firearms certificate.

Ms Abdirahid Faiza was arrested on Thursday August 3, 2017 at Moi International Airport, Mombasa, after she was allegedly found in possession of 42 rounds of 9 mm ammunition.Faiza is also facing charges of being in possession of two firearm magazines without a certificate, contrary to the Firearms act.The court heard that the Briton was arrested at the airport’s terminal one while going through screening.She was charged alongside a Kenyan, Mr Said Mohammed Guileid, who was indicted for failing to keep his magazines and ammunition in safe custody.The prosecution told the court that Mr Guileid was on August 3, 2017 found holding a civilian firearm certificate No.2149 at the Moi International Airport police station.According to Baraka FM, Guileid claimed ownership of the magazine and ammunition recovered from Ms Faiza.The two accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and asked to be released on bond pending the next case hearing.Mombasa Senior Resident Magistrate Martin Rabera released them on a surety bond of shillings Sh100,000 each.
