Independent gubernatorial candidate in Uasin Gishu Zedekiah Bundotich Buzeki has dismissed claims that he is behind the circulation of threatening leaflets in Eldoret town.

Governor Jackson Mandago had earlier this week claimed Buzeki was behind the leaflets which are asking individuals occupying county houses and markets to move out by the end of this month.

Speaking in Eldoret, Thursday, Buzeki's running mate Samson Cheruiyot denied any links to the leaflets and asked relevant security agencies to do a thorough investigation to unearth the truth.

"We have always been against any kind of politics that puts the unity and cohesion of our people at risk and this is why we want investigations conducted so that anyone behind these letters is arrested and prosecuted," said Cheruiyot.

"The era of using threats, intimidation and propaganda to gain political mileage are long gone," he added.

Buzeki's running mate further urged locals to help the police with the investigation into the matter by providing any information that could be of any help to them.

On Monday, the county government of Uasin Gishu accused Buzeki's team of being behind fake letters that were circulating within Eldoret town asking people occupying county markets and houses to move out by July 30 so as to pave way for renovations.

County's CeC in charge of Trade Phillip Melly and his Housing counterpart Robert Ng'isirei told the press that there were no plans to renovate the county markets and houses as the letters indicated.
