This gas was discovered at Kereita forest in Lari Sub County in Kiambu County

In this forest, Carbacid investment has a big share where it extracts carbon dioxide gas. The new mineral deposits were found nearly two kilometres from the main extraction point with at least 18 holes emitting this gas to the air.

Company Director M.K.R. Shah who visited the region, said that this was another additional wealth to the county. Shah added that according to the report of investigation, there is a lot more carbon dioxide on the new site than at the main mining area.

Area resident who accompanied the management crew requested to be considered and be employed in the company.

“We request Carbacid to consider us, especially the youths, and give them jobs so they can also enjoy the benefits. Kindly do not hire workers from other regions while we are just within the area and yet we are jobless," said James Muhia.

Shah indicated that their plea was heard and once the construction kicks off, they will be the first to be considered.

He also requested the residents to continue taking care of the natural resources to make them sustainable.
