A senator has claimed many voters from Central Kenya will boycott the August 8, general election.

He said voters from the counties of Kiambu, Nyeri and Muranga just like those from opposition strongholds expressed disappointment with the Jubilee administration.

"We have spoken to many people from Nyeri, Kiambu and other Jubilee counties," Kisumu Senator Prof Anyang Nyong'o said during an interview at a local radio station on Wednesday.

"They are as disappointed as those people from opposition zones. There is a likelihood that most of them will boycott the election to express their disappointment with Jubilee. They feel cheated."

Counties constituting Central Kenya overwhelmingly voted for Uhuru Kenyatta in 2013 and they are among the counties that have registered the highest number of new voters according to the latest IEBC data on Mass Voter Registration.

"This administration has let Kenyans down and all that people want is change. As NASA our agenda is to bring this change and ensure the country returns to the path of growth."

He spoke as NASA launched an MoU binding Raila Odinga's ODM, Kalonzo Musyoka's Wiper party, Moses Wetangula's Ford Kenya and Musalia Mudavai's ANC.

Nyong'o said most pledges that Jubilee made to Kenyans in the run-up to the 2013 general polls have not been fulfilled.

He said the August polls will determine the direction the country will take in development.
