The Muslim Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK) is now blaming the government for the prolonged nurses strike that has disrupted delivery of health services in public health facilities across the country.

CIPK Uasin Gishu branch chairman Sheikh Abubakar Bini has further criticised politicians for failing to address the strike.

Speaking in Eldoret town, Tuesday, Bini expressed concerns that politicians were out campaigning and giving promises yet mwananchi was suffering for lack of health services.

He challenged politicians both in government and opposition to stop giving more promises and focus on ensuring nurses are back to their work stations.

"Our nurses are on strike while all our leaders are in a campaign trail promising Kenyans a good like when elected but I wonder if they haven't done anything now what will they do when elected," noted Sheikh Bini.

"As much as they are hunting for votes they need to come together and address the more important issue of nurses strike as Kenyans are suffering yet they pay taxes and deserve better healthcare," he added.

Nurses across the country have been on strike for over a fortnight now demanding for the implementation of a Collective Bargaining Agreement they signed with the Council of Governors (CoG) last year.
