[Photo|@ntvkenya]The Council of Governors (CoG) has slammed Devolution Cabinet Secretary, Mwangi Kiunjuri, following his conduct of the Devolution operations. Chairman Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok, criticised Kiunjuri, after he announced that his Ministry will oversee the swearing-in ceremony of all the 47 newly elected governors, starting tomorrow. In a statement, CoG said Devolution Ministry was only a member of the Assumption of Office of the Governor Committee and therefore has no place in supervising county governments and or dictating the swearing-in ceremony of governors.Nanok warned that Kiunjuri should recognise that county governments were independent and have full capacity to run their own affairs, and that attempts to undermine the authority of county governments must be protected. On Tuesday, CS Kiunjuri announced that governor elects would take oath of office from Thursday August 17 to August 24, and demanded that outgoing governors present themselves before parliamentary committees when summoned over accountability issues.CoG has however disputed the demand.
