Jane wangui said she had no information regarding the cause of the deaths.

But according to neighbours, the cows might have eaten a poisonous plant.

“We have seen some datura plant on the napier grass she had given her cows," said James Wanjohi, a neighbour.

"I think this plant is growing in the shamba where she had bought the napier grass.”

It is said that the woman had bought the grass to feed her cows in this dry season.

"Datura are known to be poisonous to livestock, especially to cows and we should take precaution on what we are feeding our cows," said Wanjohi.

For now, Wangui, a widow, is not sure of what to do since the cows were her only source of livelihood.
