Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has assured city residents of peace during next month’s polls so that they can exercise their constitutional right of choosing their preferred leaders.

According to Kidero, Nairobians need not to flee the city to their rural homes as measures have been put in place to ensure their safety during the forthcoming electoral process.

“The elections are going to be safe…We’re looking forward to a free, fair, transparent and credible electoral process completely devoid of violence and the IEBC and the Interior ministry should ensure that happens,” he added.

The county boss said there are reports that some residents were fleeing the capital city in fear of chaos during the upcoming polls.

“There are those who fear that we gonna have a similar scenario as was the case in 2007/8 but as the governor, I want to assure them that everything is being done to ensure they are safe and secure and hence there’s no need to flee the city. They should stay on and exercise their voting rights by choosing their preferred leaders,” stated Kidero during an interview on KTN News on Tuesday morning.

He appealed to Nairobi residents to give another chance to steer the county to greater heights.

“I love Nairobi; I have a passion for the people of Nairobi and would want to see it grow. I’m credible and predictable,” the governor added.

He dismissed claims that he’s not in touch with what’s happening on the ground saying he spends more time out of office and thus is aware of what goes on in the county.
