Outgoing National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale has asked National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Amolo Odinga to retire from politics after losing to President Uhuru Kenyatta.

In an opinion piece published on Standard, Duale says that Raila has become politically irrelevant, adding that time has come for him to retire gracefully.

“What is most apparent in the days after the elections is that Mr Odinga is increasingly becoming politically irrelevant,” he stated.

Duale, Garissa Township MP, also said Raila is less influence in the political arena, adding that the NASA principals no longer have hope in him.

He noted that the former prime minister failed to inspire his supporters to ascend to power during the just concluded general elections.

“Mr Odinga was not able to inspire his people to the polls, and taken together, the five NASA principals politically slumped in their heartlands,” he noted.

The politician also said that Kenyans have shown the world that they can conduct free and fair polls.

Kenyans have shown that we can hold free, fair and peaceful elections and punish those who adhere to old-fashioned tribalism and the threat of violence.
