The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) will partner with the county government of Mombasa to fight corruption, an official has said.

EACC vice chairperson Sophia Lepuchirit said the commission will offer the necessary support to the Governor Hassan Joho-led administration to foster good governance.She also asked the county boss to ensure there are measures in place to curb misuse of public resources.“The commission will give all the necessary support to the county government to enable you to succeed in enhancing good governance for the benefit of the people of Kenya,” said Lepuchirit as quoted by the Star.She noted that all leaders in the county should uphold integrity and shun graft as they discharge their duties.The official, who spoke during Joho’s swearing-in fete at Mama Ngina Drive in Mombasa on Tuesday, said the governor must fight graft in his administration stating “it is a huge threat.”She lauded Joho’s commitment to the Leadership and Integrity Code saying it shows the county will take the lead in honesty, trustworthiness and dependability.“Corruption remains a big challenge in this country. We wish to urge you to take stock of the status of county governance for the purpose of assuming responsibility and moving forward,” she added.
