Kitale Catholic Diocese Bishop Maurice Crowley has been appointed an apostolic Administrator of Eldoret Catholic Diocese.
Bishop Crowley with has served at Kitale Diocese since 1998 takes over the leadership role that was being held by Bishop Cornelius Korir before his sudden death on October 30, 2017.
A communication from Vatican, the Catholic church headquarters, shared to the press by the Eldoret Catholic diocese communication office on Tuesday said Bishop Crowley will hold the position until a permanent replacement of Bishop Korir is appointed.
"Kitale Diocese Bishop Rt. Rv. Bishop Maurice Crowley will be an apostolic Administrator of Eldoret Diocese," read a short communication from the Diocese communication office.
Bishop Korir served as the Bishop of Eldoret Catholic diocese that covers three counties of Uasin Gishu, Nandi and Elgeyo Marakwet for 27 years.
