Tolgos was declared the winner of the ticket with 63,645 votes against 34,666 votes, of the Keiyo South MP.

However Kiptanui declined to concede defeat citing malpractices in the nominations.

The incumbent Tolgos said he won the primaries fairly and his opponent should accept the defeat.

“I am very thankful to the people of Elgeyo Marakwet for giving me another chance. The exercise was free and fair and my opponent should accept the defeat,” Tolgos said.

Speaking at the KMTC Hall in Iten, Wednesday, Tolgos added that the people of his county had spoken due to his development record.
