Officials of the association of former Kisii County Councilors want the controversial retirement bill 2016 passed by the member of the Kisii County Assembly on Thursday last week assented to.

Association chair Casper Ondieki said those opposed to the signing of the bill were wishing them ill.

The governor will get Sh 10 m and his deputy get the remainder.

The two will each get one high end car every four years as part of the pension.

The former councilors will get Sh 2.5 m as benefits if the bill gets assent.

Kisii Governor James Ongwae has already developed cold feet in signing the bill.

"We have all along followed a due process in asking the assembly to frame this bill," said Mr Ondieki.

He said other political leaders across the Country had already been received their pension, among them former Presidents Daniel Moi and Mwai Kibaki, and there was no reason of them being denied pension as well.

Meanwhile a source has said huge protests may take place any time this week against the bill.
