ODM  national treasurer Timothy Bosire and Busia County women representative Florence Mutua have asked the electoral commission to extend voter registration period.

This they said will help in ensuring IEBC meets its target.

"In most parts of the Country they are yet to meet their targets,  reason we request that they extend more time, " said Mr Bosire.

They also blamed the Government for marginalizing its strongholds in the issuance of national identity cards to eligible voters.

"Its now that we have picked 6,000 ID cards that belong to people from Busia County. At what time will they get them and register as voters? Posed Ms Mutua.

Mr Bosire who is also the MP Kitutu Masaba suggested that IEBC extends the period by two weeks.

Ms Mutua said that since yesterday the number of Kenyans coming out to register was on the rise.

"We have seen how the queues are very long in registration centres,  that means that a lot of Kenyans are yet to Register, " said Ms Mutua.
