A man aged 22 years in Bomet is in police custody after he allegedly killed his lover and a former school mate in a love triangle.

Chepalungu OCPD Patrick Musyimi confirmed the incident and said the suspect hacked to death an 18-year-old female secondary student at Mengwet Mixed secondary school in Kiplombe village, Chepalungu Bomet county on Monday night.

Musyimi said the man and the school girl allegedly disagreed over  love issues.

The area chief Francis Mwei said that the girl met her death as she was on half term holiday.

According to the chief, the suspect invited the girl to his house after which they had a quarrel that the girl was cheating on him.

The girl fled the house but the man followed her and stabbed her to death outside the homestead.  

Mwei told KNA that the girl's body had been mutilated.

The body was taken to Tenwek mission hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.

The suspect will be arraigned in court to be charged over murder.
