Former Tharaka Nithi governor Samuel Ragwa was on Friday caught with Sh2.5 Million at his compound.
Police raided Summerton Hotel which the former governor owns and found other county property suspected to have been illegally sneaked in.
The Hotel is located just close to the county headquarters and it I suspected that the governor transferred county resources to his personal property.
When in power, Mr. Ragwa’s government was riddled with controversies when he was not able to account for 1.3 Billion of county funds.
He was defeated by Muthomi Njuki in this year’s election.
The former governor is also suspected to have hired many ghost or unqualified county staff for his personal benefits.
