Police in Athi-River have arrested and detained two suspects among the four believed to have raided the home of former Tourism Permanent Secretary Rebecca Nabutola.

The early morning incident left the former PS's husband with head injuries before being rushed by police to a nearby hospital where they were treated and later discharged.

The robbers, who were armed with crude weapons accessed the former PS's home by breaking through the main door of their house.

According to Athi-River police boss, the robbers left with jewelries worth Sh350, 000 and Sh20,000in cash. They also took away the couple's mobile phone.

Police said the two that were arrested and will help them with investigation into the incident.

Nabutola alongside Achieng’ Ongo’nga’ were jailed for four years in 2012 after they were found guilty of defrauding the tourism ministry Sh8.9 million.

After serving three months in prison, they moved to court and appealed the rulling for the second time and successfully won after justice Musaga Mbogholi released them on a Sh500,000 cash bail.
