Wajir Governor elect Mohamed Abdi has vowed to weed out youth radicalization and create jobs for young people.

The former Kenyan ambassador to Saudi Arabia, says that young people are being lured to crime and terror related activities because of desperation for lacking jobs.

In an interview with a local daily, Abdi said that his government first agenda  once sworn in will be  to create employment.

He said that the county has resources that it can be used to create job opportunities.

“My first agenda once I am sworn into office will be to end youth radicalization and crime by providing job opportunities to young people,” he said as quoted by the Daily Nation.

Abdi also promised to weed out drug abuse and other social evils associated with young people.

He said that his government will engage youth and other marginalized groups.

He also said that his administration will fully adhere to the government rule that required that 30 per cent of all tenders reserved for young people and marginalized groups.

The Jubilee governor-elect asked youth to support his government saying that they are key in pushing the county’s development agenda forward.

The Jubilee governor won the gubernatorial seat sending incumbent ODM governor Ahmed Abdullahi.
