Garissa Women Representative Shukran Gure has appealed to politicians across the political divide to exercise political tolerance as the country heads to the August polls.

Gure warns that the country will be divided if political intolerance among politicians is tolerated.

Addressing supporters at Garissa Town on Sunday, Gure said that politician’s must focus on uniting the country despite the different ideologies they have.

She said that the country’s peace and stability will be maintained if politicians embrace humility and tolerance.

“As politicians, we must  focus on uniting Kenyans this election period despite our different political ideologies and agendas,” she said as quoted by the Star.

Gare urged Kenyans to remain peaceful and shun politicians who preach hatred.

“I urge Kenyans not to be swayed into violence by selfish politicians,” she said.

Gure at the same time urged the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to crack the whip on hate mongers.

“NCIC and other government agencies must tame politicians who are fond of spewing hatred in campaigns,” she said.

Gure exuded confidence that she will be re-elected in the August polls, further urging women to support her re-election to enable her complete the development projects she has initiated under the Social Affirmative Fund.
