Kenya Handball Federation Rift Valley region is set to elect new officials, Thursday in Eldoret.

The exercise will be held at Hill School Eldoret with three delegates from each of the 14 counties in Rift Valley set to vote in the new officials into office.

Kenyatta University lecturer Benjamin Kosgei is contesting the chairmanship post against Francis Pere while the current chairman Joel Nandi has not confirmed if he will defend the seat.

Kosgei said he wants to inject new blood into the handball sport in the region saying it has stagnated for lack of proper leadership.

“Currently handball is dormant in Rift valley yet we have huge talent. If elected I will revive the sport through different intervention measures,” Kosgei said Monday.

He has experience having guided different teams to national and East Africa titles while still at Secondary School before earning a promotion to be a university don.

Kipkoech Cheruiyot will face off with Agnes Ruto both from Bomet for the treasurer post  while Gilbert Chumba of Uasin Gishu will contest the Secretary General post with the incumbent Wamalwa Wafula.

Technical Director Julius Koech of Baringo will defend the seat against Dennis Ayieko of Kericho and Peter Ngeny (Nandi).
