[Photo: MoH]The Ministry of Health has formed an alliance with stakeholders to monitor and drive industry efforts towards Universal Health Coverage.Health Cabinet Secretary Dr Cleopa Mailu, held a consultative forum with the stakeholders to discuss the launch of the Social Development Goals (SDG) Partnership platform, Monday.The Platform brought together leaders from Ministry of Health, County governments, Development Partners, Private Sector, Academia, and Civil Society to harness their strengths to transform primary health care and make progress towards Universal Health Coverage.Mailu said the SDG platform would champion public private collective action and look into opportunities for accelerating universal access to primary healthcare services, by addressing the gaps in human resources, healthcare financing, essential medicines and medical supplies, health information, and use of technology.‘Kenya is now leading the way in health sector strengthening and transformation. This platform will enhance the capacities of National and County Government to strategically, efficiently, effectively and accountably engage with the private sector to a level that the partnership can be transformative,” said the CS.The SDG partnership platform is anticipated to be in full alignment with existing development planning frameworks under Vision 2030. The United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF), the UN and the government of Kenya will be the overarching governance for the platform with support from multiple stakeholders.
