Siaya Governor Amoth Rasanga now wants ODM brigade to pitch tent in his county to counter revolution waged by independent candidate Nicholas Gumbo.

Gumbo, the outgoing Rarieda MP ditched ODM to run as an Independent after losing in contested ODM primaries.

On Monday, Rasanga claimed that Gumbo had invaded his Alego-Usonga stronghold making it difficult for him to campaign outside the region.

“I risk losing this seat and I appeal to ODM to come and help me. My opponent is dishing goodies in my stronghold making it difficult for me to campaign outside,” he said.

The embattled governor added: “His influence is growing fast and as ODM we must do something. It is a real threat to our seat.”

Both Gumbo and Jakoyo Midiwo, a long term ally of Raila Odinga, have been leading onslaught against Rasanga claiming that he rigged ODM governorship primaries.

Odinga’s call to have six piece voting pattern was met with resistance recently as the wave of independent candidates sweeps across Nyanza.
