Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua says the environmental situation has been very hostile to farmers in terms of production.

One way of addressing such, Mbugua says the county Government has distributed over 3300 tones of subsidized pesticides to farmers.

“The environmental situation has been very hostile to farmers in this county but we are trying infact as we talk now we have over 3300 tones of subsidized pesticides distributed to farmers. It is not enough but it is just one of the county initiatives,” said Mbugua.

Speaking on the second day of the Nakuru ASK show, the incumbent Nakuru Governor also noted that the county Government of Nakuru has been on the forefront of ensuring that the extension workers are in the fields to improve on production.

He commended the farmers for being cooperative with the county government in ensuring some of the challenges are addressed.

“We are also ensuring that extension workers are always on the move every minute to monitor the situation so that we can control. I am happy the farmers are cooperating and we shall improve the production” he said.

Mbugua was accompanied by Nakuru CeCs Dr.Stanley Chepkwony for Agriculture,Rachael Maina for Finance, Professor Catherine Kitetu for Public Service and Nakuru ASK Show chair Margaret Anami.

The Nakuru ASK show which commenced on 4th July is expected to end on 8th July 2017.
