Nyali MP-elect Mohammed Ali has said fighting drug abuse, job creation and empowerment of women and persons living with disabilities will be his first assignments after being sworn in.

Addressing youth in Nyali town on Wednesday, the former KTN investigative reporter said he will hit the road running in efforts to empower residents economically.Ali said he understands the enormous responsibilities he has to undertake, adding that he is ready to work for the interests of the people.The MP-elect said he will push for laws that will eliminate drug and substance abuse in the constituency and Mombasa at large.He noted that drug abuse remains an obstacle to realization of development in the larger Coast region."I am going to be at the forefront in the fight against drug abuse and help save thousands of young people who have been trapped by the menace,” he said, as quoted by the Standard.Ali said employment creation is also at the top of his agenda, adding that he will work with the national government, the county government and other stakeholders to create employment opportunities for the youth.He also promised to fully utilise the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) in improving the lives of residents.

Ali has promised to make Nyali the jewel of Mombasa, and the envy of every constituency.
