On Monday, two homemade firearms were recovered after suspects who were robbing members of the public were shot by police in Mowlem and Kayole.

Since the beginning of June, the police has documented 15 recoveries of homemade pistols, with half of them being recovered in Kayole and Eastleigh.Earlier last month, the police asked members of the public to volunteer information that would lead to the arrest of homemade pistols which they described as "disabled and notorious".This is after several arrests were made in Mihang'o, Huruma and Dandora.

National police Service spokesperson George Kinoti on Tuesday said the police were now directing their energies in finding the manufacturer of the pistols.

"Several criminals have been arrested with the homemade guns and are now helping us in the crackdown on the manufacturers and suppliers," said Kinoti.
