Female teachers at a primary school in Samburu have narrated their ordeal at the hands of school boys who attacked them for emarrasing their culture.

The boys at Karimoni primary school said the teachers had been punishing them in front of girls.

One of the female teachers Jane Gachohi said the boys waylaid her as she was coming from a washroom and sorrounded her."They hit me with a rungu. They wanted to kill us," she said.

"I even lifted my hands. I pleaded with them to stop beating me but they ignored me. It is a class eight boy who rescued me," the teacher added.

The Monday incident saw five female teachers beaten and injured.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) said the matter is being investigated.The teachers have asked for a transfer.
